Clinical Supervisor, Residential program
General Statement of Duties
The Clinical Supervisor will be responsible for both direct and indirect clinical services to clients as well as the provision of clinical supervision. He/she will be responsible for understanding, imparting and maintaining the Agency’s goals, mission and philosophy. He/she will be expected to display sophisticated clinical skills and judgment, be able to instruct, guide and supervise staff to Agency regulatory, funding, certification and accepted professional standards. In short, the Clinical Supervisor provides leadership; direction and supervision for the counselors, insuring that all client treatment needs are met on a daily basis.
Major Responsibilities
- Supervise all clinical services, including screening, intake evaluation and orientation assessment, treatment planning, individual and family counseling, group therapy, discharge and aftercare planning, as well as vocational training and job placement. In some cases, the Clinical Supervisor will provide direct services to clients and in other cases; the Clinical Supervisor will supervise other clinical staff members who are providing direct service to clients.
- Supervision of counselors. Conduct clinical staff meetings and participate in one supervisory session per week with each counselor.
- Ensure that all client records are kept up to date and that all services that are provided to clients are documented according to Agency standards. Responsible for maintaining quality and confidentiality of client records, ensuring compliance with all DMHAS, licensing, CARF and JTPA standards.
- Ensure that at a minimum, all clients receive at least two group sessions per week and one individual session every two weeks.
- Ensure and conduct staff performance appraisals for employees supervised in a timely manner.
- Participate in Program Planning, Development and Implementation.
- Ensure that counselors are performing in a professional manner with referral sources, managed care companies and all MCCA departments.
- Ensure that Program Performance Indicators meet Agency and DMHAS Standards; ensure utilization of beds meet and/or exceeds DMHAS standards; ensure that CCPC criteria is implemented and correctly utilized.
- Functioning as a back up to the Facility Director in the Facility Director’s absence and the management of all areas of the facility operation.
- Perform all other appropriate duties as assigned by the Facility Director.
- Must become medication certified
- Must become certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
- Must become First Aid and CPR certified
- Supervise residents in daily activities during evening hours and overnight
- Manage resident behavior using the program recovery model philosophy and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention under the supervision of clinical staff leadership
- Provide basic health and first aid services for residents in case of minor situations
- Monitor the facility for fire and security during evening and overnight including weekends as scheduled
- Monitor the reward system for residents on a consistent basis
- Complete documentation and report data according to MCCA policies and procedures
- Assist in providing educational needs such as homework and activities of daily living for students
- All other duties as assigned.
- Achieves and maintains medication certification
- Achieves and maintains Therapeutic Crisis Intervention certified
- Achieves and maintains First Aid and CPR certification
- Supervises daily activities on a consistent basis
- Implements all policies and procedures
- Communicates pertinent information to the Program Director and Residential Supervisor on a consistent basis
- Contributes to the formulation of up-to-date individualized recovery plans
- Consistently monitors the reward system
- Generates community participation and pro-social recreational activities for residents
- Appropriately assists in crisis situations
- Observes company-wide standards for conduct and for customer service
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of the developmental stages of children and adolescents
- Demonstrates an ability to integrate and to use the treatment model in activities of daily living situations with residents
- Demonstrates teamwork and willingness to further develop competencies in working with the residents
- Documents and reports according to MCCA policies and procedures.
- Maintains and promotes confidentiality concerning patient and staff issues in line with State and Federal regulations and companywide ethical guidelines
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services or 60 Credit Hours earned towards a Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree in related field.
- Connecticut driver’s license
- Willingness to work floating shifts including overnight and weekends, as agreed upon.
- Facilitate initial procedures for admission, including completion of required intake forms, releases, collection of initial assessment and recommendations for treatment planning. Apply eligibility and diagnostic criteria to determine client appropriateness for treatment in various modalities.
- Monitor client insurance – inclusive benefits, eligibility status, preauthorization and ongoing authorization of services rendered.
Facilitate individual, group and family counseling, facilitate client and family education groups and programs, and facilitate other groups as assigned. - Evaluate individuals referred to MCCA by the Pre-Trial Intervention Program.
- Facilitate IDIP and PDEP groups for the Pre-Trial Intervention Program.
- Communicate general and specific program goals, rules of conduct, Agency services and hours of operation, treatment costs to be borne by clients and clients’ rights as well as other information required.
- Identify and evaluate client strengths, limitations, problems and needs; assess and develop treatment plans.
Implement, review and modify treatment plans as required. - Provide case management services to clients as needed, coordinate multiple services planning in support of client needs and integrate with treatment planning process.
- High profile consultative role with multi-disciplinary team, provide crisis intervention services as needed.
Provide family interventions as needed. - Provide information to individuals and groups concerning alcohol and other drug abuse as well as available treatment services and resources.
- Have a good command of the Agency’s Policies and Procedures. Provide information and guidance on utilization of community resources, initiate and follow up on referrals as needed.
- Note date of client discharges ongoing and modify as needed in order to promote timely admissions to the treatment program.
Chart results of assessment and treatment planning; write reports, progress notes, discharge summaries and other client-related information in support of documentation of client’s progress to facilitate communications between co-workers and in support of accountability of the Agency to its funding sources. - Consult with our own and other professionals to assure comprehensive quality care for the client.
- Coordinate/carry out special programs or projects as assigned by the program supervisor.
- Comply with all federal, state and funding regulatory requirements.

Residential Youth Worker, Bethel CT
The position is responsible for providing supervision for residents of the group home during daily activities, evening hours and overnight seven days per week. The Youth Worker will monitor evening studies, activities and provide support for other staff during “off-hours.” The Youth Worker is responsible for working as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team under the supervision of the Residential Supervisors and Program Director. He/she will work with adolescents with a co-occurring diagnosis, including mental illness and chemical dependency issues, problem behaviors and emotional/behavioral developmental problems.
